Jeff Buckley would’ve been 50 years old on November 17th. That endless river of a Scorpio Sun in the 4th house… with the slight distance, the ‘just out of grasp’ sung by a Moon six degrees into Aquarius…
“Just like the ocean, always in love with the Moon
It’s overflowing now, inside you
We fly right over the minds of so many in pain
We are the smile of light that brings the rain”
“Paranoia will write the world prayer
Make sure you fit in and fill the right holes
But when you take his offer you’re done for
Done for, ohhhhhhh”
“I’ve loved so many times and I’ve drowned them all
From their coral graves they rise up when darkness falls
With their bones they scratch the windows, I hear them call
‘Don’t know what you asked for’”
“Lady
All the troubles are my fright, I disgust you
Feel the power you cut the truth into you
Why do you think I'd hidden out on this rely
I could kiss you
With lines of escape in my mouth
Please let me bring back these gifts of mine to the woman
His eyes shined on my back as I slept and knew you
You didn't leave it all
You made an even call
My belly released the stars
And tears between the scars"
“Looking out the door I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water
Well maybe I’m too young to keep good love from going wrong
But tonight you’re on my mind so, you never know”
“And I never stepped on the cracks because I thought I’d hurt my mother
And I couldn’t awake from the nightmare, it sucked me in and pulled me under
It pulled me under, oh
Oh that was so real
Oh that was so real “
( Scorpio Sun and Aquarius Moon, even in his fateful answer… )
[How would you like to be remembered?]
Jeff: “As a good friend. I don't really need to be remembered… I hope the music's remembered.”
Jeff Buckley drowned in the Tennessee River on May 29th, 1997, while waiting for his band to arrive and re-record his beautiful but painfully unfinished second album. It was the same day Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins, who had a history with Jeff, recorded the vocals to Massive Attack's “Teardrop.” She did so not yet knowing of his fate, and feels they are about him.
"Love, love is a verb
Love is a doing word
Fearless on my breath
Gentle impulsion
Shakes me, makes me lighter
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath"
A solar system sanctuary.
